DescriptionAssist Operations Manager in routine facility duties to include but are not limited to: Represent the University Centers in a friendly, professional and service-oriented manner. Meet and greet. Interact with and coordinate facility and customer needs with all applicable departments and staff, including UCSD Catering. Read and interpret daily EMS reports in order to effectively and efficiently execute operational duties. Set-up, tear-down and properly store furniture and equipment in University Centers facilities. Set-up, troubleshoot, tear-down and properly store house audiovisual equipment. Transport, set up, change-over, tear-down and store all non-permanent staging, barricade and other equipment as required for daily operations within the University Centers' facilities (and UCSD campus as needed). Perform light custodial duties to include but not limited to: dusting, cleaning furniture and equipment, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, picking up and disposing trash - as part of room set-up, changeover, tear-down and storage. This includes dusting and cleaning of house audiovisual equipment. Assist in cardboard baling on Price Center loading dock as requested. Perform building rounds and perform miscellaneous tasks as necessary to ensure building is clean, maintained, safe and presentable at all times. This includes ensuring fire exits remain clear at all times. Attend regularly scheduled meetings. Formulate computerized daily reports outlining information such as building activities, patron counts, room use no-shows, facility problems, overall comments, suggestions, etc. Submit Maintenance and Custodial Service work orders through computerized work order system. Communicate with University Centers staff via department cellular phone/radio. Change the Price Center and Student Center marquees according to daily EMS report. Appropriately respond to building and patron emergencies (i.e. evacuation, crowd control, fire, earthquake, flood, power failure, injuries).
QualificationsMust be able to work variable flexible hours including evenings, weekends and possibly holidays. Must be able to work a minimum of two regularly scheduled shifts per week; 15-19 hours per week (subject to change on a quarterly basis). Must be CPR certified within 6 months of employment. Must use proper safety gear as necessary and follow all safety measures and MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) guidelines. Must be able to climb ladders and use a high lift. Must be able to safely lift, move, carry, push and pull a minimum of 50-75 lbs. Must be friendly, outgoing, customer-service oriented, assertive, take initiative, possess leadership abilities, communicate effectively and efficiently, and make independent decisions taking into considerations the impact work behavior and decisions have on the University Centers, the University and our customers. Must have a valid California driver's license as some driving may be required. Must pay UCSD student services fees each quarter working (must have paid Sp’17 UCSD student services fees or be a new or readmit UC student Fa’17 to work summer)
